Beyond the Headlines: Teen Mental Health and Social Media

We regret that we had to postpone this event, but we are working to reschedule in 2019! Dr. Emily Weinstein is a postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and expert in technology and how it impacts the lives of adolescents. She will be providing a timely update on the state of research in the area of teen mental health and social media, and the key ideas currently emerging on technology and well being. She takes a practical approach to the topic, recognizing the need for balance and better understanding young peoples’ experiences. Her talk will focus on:
- Understanding the key challenges young people face with technology and how we can better support them
- Putting the challenges into context and recognizing the postiive experiences that also come with social media
Dr. Emily Weinstein is a postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her research examines the intersections of networked technologies with the social, emotional, and civic lives of adolescents and emerging adults. Outside of her academic research, she also regularly works with schools and families related to digital citizenship initiatives. Weinstein holds an Ed.M. in Prevention Science and Practice and an Ed.D. in Human Development and Education, both from Harvard University.
